This past weekend my husband and I celebrated our sixth anniversary with a weekend overnight in Yarmouth. It was so long overdue and awesome to get away for some grown up time! ![]()
We took off Saturday morning for our trip down Cape and stopped along the way for a nice bike/run along the Cape Cod Canal. Clarke took a spin on the bike, while I had a nice, brisk four mile jaunt along the Cape Cod canal.
Believe it or not, I have never run along the canal. I have always wanted to, but for some reason or another, it hasn’t happened. Until Saturday, that is! After working out, we drove the rest of the way to Yarmouth and arrived at our hotel.
We hit the pool and hot tub for some quality relaxation. The hot tub was just what I needed after my morning run.
After the pool, we went to Main Street, Hyannis to do a little retail work. One of the best stops: the Kandy Korner for a sweet fix!
Before dinner we had a nice cocktail hour in our room—totally wish I had time for this more often! We went to a fabulous restaurant for dinner called Lyric (Yarmouthport, MA). The food was superb and the service at the restaurant could not have been nicer!
I decided on the Bibb Salad (Bibb lettuce, blue cheese, candied walnuts, and Bosc pears) and the Oven Roasted Cod (served with a lemon beurre blanc and buttermilk chive whipped potatoes).
There are only a handful of times that I have polished off a large salad AND my entrée, and this was one of them! To round out an awesome dinner, I found a new favorite Chardonnay (A is for Acacia). I would say Lyric was a definite win on all fronts.
We headed back to Main Street, Hyannis for some ice cream at the Broken Cone. Another first for me was Four Seas ice cream. I have always heard about it, but never tried it—a delicious check in that box!
As most parents do when they finally have time to themselves, we fell asleep at 10:30 and slept until a whopping 8:30. This is definitely the longest I have slept in a long time. A great night’s sleep for the win!
Before leaving town, we stopped off in Hyannisport, since Clarke had never been. For those of you who are not native to the Cape or Massachusetts, Hyannisport is the location of the Kennedy Compound.
The stretch of beach there is gorgeous and the weather was beautiful and perfect for picture-taking on Sunday morning. We were not alone in our enjoyment of the fantastic beach weather. ![]()
