Since I will become a parent for the third time next spring, I got to thinking about the books that I have relied on and enjoyed during pregnancy and baby/toddlerhood. Here are some of my favorites:

  • A to Z Children's Health_optThe No Cry Sleep Solution – I briefly tried the Ferber method, and I honestly don’t think I lasted one night. I just couldn’t do it. After a super exasperating night of sleep deprivation, I started googling books that could help me. I discovered the No Cry Sleep Solution, and I think it had a lot of useful information and valid points. To me, it just felt right. We incorporating some of the techniques we read about, and it did work for us. A new e-book was just released with an updated and enhanced version of the No Cry Sleep Solution and some bonus videos from the author.
    • The Baby Book Book (from birth to 2 years) by Dr. Sears—I have always liked Dr. Sears approach to birth and parenting. I feel like we pretty much see eye to eye on a lot of issues, and I could relate to a lot of what was written in this book. It’s great for all of those baby stage questions!
  • Hypnobirthing: The Mongan Method—While I did get an epidural with J and C, I read this book before C was born and found it to be very helpful. It was accompanied by a CD that had meditations on it that I listened to almost every night. It would put me to sleep in seconds and definitely helped my relax. I give it some credit for my relatively smooth and fast labors. Winking smile
  • The A to Z of Children’s Health: A Parents Guide from Birth to 10 Years – This book is like an encyclopedia for all ailments/issues you find while raising your child! I love the way it’s organized: alphabetically by ailment/condition. It also has great pictures that can help you better understand certain conditions: think rashes, etc. It’s simple and easy to understand too.

30 Something Mother Runner received an electronic copy of the enhanced version of the No Cry Sleep Solution (I bought my own first edition!) and a copy of the A to Z of Children’s Health for my review.
