Two of my running/blogger friends Michele and Samantha are hosting a Superbowl Challenge, because why wager with money when you can do it with miles? I am pledging my allegiance to team Patriots. I am a life-long Pats fan having grown up in Massachusetts and currently residing in Rhode Island. Not to mention the fact that I am married to a man who will probably need to be medicated if the Pats lose!
I would love to have my readers pick a team and join in! If your team does lose, just think of it this way– you will get to burn off all the adult beverages and football snacks! If you want to join in, read on for the terms of the challenge.
After the Superbowl is played, if your team wins, the losing team members have to run the point differential of the loss in miles. For example, if I am on Team Patriots and the Patriots win by a score of 41-24, then Team Giants participants will have to run 17 miles. Before you get scared off by that number, there are some exceptions:
For those with solid base training, 20 miles will be the cap for your loser run. If you feel more comfortable, you can choose a distance like 10 miles or something that you feel is more manageable for your fitness level (I am not up to running 20 miles yet!). Obviously, I would like to see as many Team Giants fans running 20 miles as possible!
